Maine Public partners with non-profits across the state to promote their events and initiatives and help drive the success of their efforts. Maine Public culls feedback through a number of vehicles including listener and viewer surveys, a dedicated Audience Services team to manage all incoming queries via phone and email from the general public, and a robust Membership Services team to manage member issues and concerns.Maine Public continues to identify ways to best serve the State of Maine. Among the new contributions was Maine Public's coverage of the Lewiston tragedy. Maine Public's reporting was comprehensive and included two community events in Lewiston and the launch of a podcast series around lessons learned from the mass shooting. Maine Public Classical continued to expand the depth of its locally hosted programming with new show offerings during the weekdays and weekends. Maine Public launched a literacy campaign in partnership with libraries across the state and held a series of Daniel Tiger events to inspire a love of reading in some of Maine's youngest citizens. Maine Public focused on Maine's veterans through a podcast series featuring every branch of service and an accompanying exhibit that toured locations around the state including the Hall of Flags in the state capital. Organizational Review Maine Public has administrative offices and production facilities for television, radio and web services in Lewiston, Bangor, Augusta and Portland. The station's transmitters and translators, located throughout the state, deliver programs to nearly all of Maine's citizens. The organization employs 114 full-time and part-time people. Maine Public is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees which include the President of Maine Public, a gubernatorial appointee, a University System appointee and up to 24 Community Members from across the State. The Board meets a minimum of four times a year and all meetings are open to the public. Maine Public has a volunteer community advisory board (CAB) with Membership reflecting the diversity of the state and Maine Public's listeners, viewers, and supporters. The purpose of the CAB is to advise the Board of Trustees and Maine Public staff as to whether the programming and other policies of Maine Public meet the needs of the communities that the station serves. CAB meets twice a year, and its meetings are also open to the public. Maine Public's revenues come from the voluntary contributions from over 55,200 individual supporters, as well as underwriting support from businesses and nonprofit organizations. Additional funding is received through an annual appropriation from the state of Maine and from television & radio community service grants from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Maine Public serves as the backbone of Maine's Emergency Alert System.
