However, local youth livestock show/fairs and other local agricultural programs and organizations have a local existence and are known to be organizations who benefit the local community and youth. Pt I Line 2 Funds awarded to individuals for scholarships to attend college are partially monitored, as their college enrollment is verified. Pt VI, Line 4 Changes to by-laws: ARTICLE III-Section 3: This Corporation may reject andy application for membership for any reason not prohibited by law. Article III-Section 4: In the event any County or part thereof within this Corporations jurisdiction is in a federally, state or locally declared state of emergency on the date of, or at any point within sixty (60) days of the comtemplated date of, such annual or special meeting, then one-tenth of one percent (0.1%) of the members, but not less than (3) members, in good standing shall constitute a quorum for the transaction of the business at such meeting. ARTICLE IV- Section 2: All directors must be members of this Corporation in good standing and must be interest and actively engaged in the production of agricultural products and/or livestock, and must receive a substantial portion of their income form such agricultural pursuits. Section 3: The President shall appoint a committee of three (3) members for the purpose of making nominations to the Board of Directors. The nominating committee shall certify to the annual memebership meeting of this Corporation the names of those place in nomination. Section 4: The term of office of a director extends form the date the director is elected and qualified until the directors successor is elected and qualified at the annual meeting of the final year of the directors term or until the directors earlier death, resignation, disqualification or removal. Section 5: The Board shall hold a minimum of six (6) regular meetings each year. Section 7: A vacancy may be declared as existing when a Board member has missed three (3) consecutive regular Board meetings without just cause, and must be declared as existing when a Board member has missed all Board meetings in any one (1) year period. Section 8: If deemed in the best interst of the Corporation, a director my be removed at any meeting of the members at which a quorum is present by the affirmative vote of two-thirds of the members present at such meeting, provided notice of the potential removal of the director is contained in the notice of such meeting or at any meeting of the Board of Directors at which a quorum is present by affirmative vote of two-thirds of the Board of Directors, provided notice of the potential removal of the director is contained in the notice of such meeting. ARTICLE V-Section 1: The officers of this Corporation shall be President, Vice President and Secretary-Treasurer. They shall be elected annually by the Board of Directors and shall be elected from among the members of the Board of Directors at the first Board meeting following the annual meeting of the membership. Pt VI, Line 19 The organization makes its Form 990 and any other required information available to the public upon specific request only. Other Pt XII, Line 2a&b: While the financial statements are not compiled by an independent accountant, they are compiled by a separate entity who compiles its financial statements and prepares and files all of its state and federal tax returns/reports. This entity also reconciles the organizations bank statements. The organization pays a fee for these services. Other Part III, Line 4d-Other Program Services: STATE MEETINGS- Volunteer Directors of the County Farm Bureau attended meetings sponsored by Texas Farm Bureau, including its annual state convention. At these meetings, various agricultural issues are discussed with similar local volunteers from other county farm bureaus across the state. At the Texas Farm Bureau annual convention, local county farm bureau leaders from all over Texas voted on agricultural issues that these volunteers would like Texas Farm Bureau and the volunteers to pursue on a statewide level in the upcoming year. AG IN THE CLASSROOM- County Farm Bureau volunteers contributed their time and resources to an Agriculture in the Classroom Program. Using various specially developed materials (in conjunction with Texas Farm Bureau), teachers around the state guide Texas students in grades 1 thru 6 in exploring various facets of food and fiber production in Texas. How agriculture contributes to the lifestyles of people throughout the world is also presented. STUDENT SUCCESS SERIES- CFBs recruited and sponsored students to participate in this program. The overall program provided students in 8th through 12th grade opportunities to learn more about Texas agriculture, government, leadership, networking, and personal professionalism. ADDITIONAL- Members of the County Farm Bureau are also members of Texas Farm Bureau, a statewide agricultural organization (exempt under 501(c) (5)) that works for the betterment of agriculture and coordinates programs on a statewide basis. Members of the County Farm Bureau are also members of the American Farm Bureau, a national agricultural organization that also works for the betterment of agriculture. County Farm Bureau volunteers help organize their members into separate agricultural commodity interests and participate in matters dealing with legislation that affects agriculture.
