The Endowment and the Foundation meet the attentiveness and responsiveness tests as described below. The amount of the support received from the Endowment is a sufficient part of the Foundation's total support to ensure attentiveness. During 2024, the Endowment contributed approximately 11% of the Foundation's total contribution revenue. The Endowment has supported the Foundation since its inception in 2004. The funds granted to the Foundation are used for nursing scholarships. The officers and directors of each organization maintain a close working relationship. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11b After preparation and review by the Executive Director, a copy of Form 990 is sent to the Chairman of the Board, the Board Treasurer, and the remaining members of the Endowment Board for final review and approval. After careful review and consideration, comments are compiled by the Executive Director. All comments and questions are addressed, discussed, and compared before final submission to the IRS. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c A copy of the conflict of interest policy is furnished to each trustee, officer, and staff member who serves The Good Samaritan Organization or may become associated with it (volunteers). The policy and its application are reviewed annually for the information and guidance of trustees, officers, and staff members, each of whom has a continuing responsibility to scrutinize their transactions and outside business interests and relationships for potential conflicts of interest and to make such disclosures as described by the policy. Annually, the board chair meets with each trustee at the annual board meeting, usually in early November, and asks for a completed certification of agreement with the policy and disclosure of any known conflicts of interest upon their election or re-election to the board. In addition, the Executive Director and each staff member are asked to complete a certification annually by the end of each calendar year.
