Long and his family for the purpose of assisting in the financing of the education of qualified Christians.Scholarships will be awarded anually as foundation funds permit.Awards will be approved on the basis of a majority vote of theBoard of Directors of Howard & Wendy Long Foundation, Inc. Scholarships may be renewable to the completion of the approved degree program as determined by the Board of Directors of the Howard & WendyLong Foundation, Inc.Individuals related to anyone who has donated to the Howard &Wendy Long Foundation, Inc. are ineligible for award consideration.Individuals are also ineligible for award consideration if suchaward would result in a private benefit, either directly orindirectly, under the provisions of the internal revenue code, toany member of the Board of Directors of the Howard & Wendy Long Foundation, Inc.Criteria for AwardsIn addition to the submission of all application materials priorto the June 1st deadline, applicants should be prepared to discuss: Their strong Christian faith and commitment to the Lordship of Jesus Christ as evidenced by the fruit of the Holy Spirit which enables one to live a righteous and holy life. Their record of academic excellence as measured by grade point average; the nature of academic degrees; and the quality of academic school programs completed. Their demonstrated leadership ability including a biblical understanding of authority and servant leadership principles. Their record of good citizenship and desire to help one's fellow man as evidenced by extracurricular activities and community involvement. Their concept of a well-balanced life--physically, emotionally, spiritually, and educationally.Application ProceduresAll application materials must be received by June 1st for awardconsideration for the upcoming academic year. Notification of allawards will be made by mail during the month of July. Requiredapplication materials to be completed include: Scholarship application - To be completed by the applicant. Clergy and faculty recommendations - Contact your recommenders early to allow them time to complete and send the recommendation forms before the deadline. Transcripts - A copy of your most recent high school or college transcript to be sent to the Howard & Wendy Long Foundation, Inc. prior to the deadline.
