These classes are focused on beginner level computer skills training- computer basics internet usage email and online safety. 108722 Our next biggest program was for our Telehealth Outreach for Underserved Communities of Hawaii TOUCH grant where we hosted 32 basic computer classes around the state of Hawaii for 595 participants. 7534 During 2024 our foundation administered a Charter Spectrum grant on Molokai Hawaii. We held six basic computer skills classes-each three hours long-serving 30 participants. Every attendee received a Chromebook laptop significantly enhancing digital literacy and technology access in this rural community. This initiative stands as one of our four largest direct charitable activities for the year. 15000 The Hawaii Rural Equity for Advancing Community Health REACH program is an evidence-based community education and outreach program that expands access to knowledge of telehealth services for four rural and distressed communities on the Big Island of Hawaii. They provided funding and devices for 6 basic computer classes with an emphasis on telehealth for 6 classes in remote and rural areas of Hawaii Island for 77 class participants. Specifically the funds were used to conduct six 3 hour classes tailored to the needs of Molokai residents enhancing their ability to access technology education and employment opportunities. Additionally we provided 30 Chromebooks to participants thereby reducing the digital divide and empowering individuals with practical tools for learning and community engagement. This activity not only advances our mission of increasing technological access and educational outcomes in disadvantaged areas but also strengthens community capacity and economic opportunity. 1(b) The Mapunawai project Digital Ready Hawaii will partner with the Hawaii Community Foundation to provide free computer instruction and telehealth training to seniors in Kahuku. Targeted at participants with little to no computer skills skill level 0 to 1 the program offers 3-6 hours of in-person training covering basic computer operations online safety and telehealth access e.g. using Zoom for healthcare consultations. In addition the 20 participants receive free refurbished laptops to ensure they have the necessary devices and broadband access. The programs philosophy is that by equipping individuals with a computer internet connectivity and foundational digital skills they are empowered to pursue lifelong learning improve communication and enhance job readiness.
