We increased our camp attendance to 448, our largest camp year in our 52 year history (a 10% increase over all other years). In our school year programs we continued to expand our services and capabilities for our younger students (pre-K - 3rd grade), our ESL (English as a Second Language) students, and our after school programs. We converted a classroom space into an early elementary education space and created programs aimed at this age group. We added dual language worksheets and directions to several of our labs and benefited from having a bi-lingual member on staff to offer programs in Spanish to students who speak little or no English. We also added more after school program options, many focused-on STEM activities aligned with middle school and later elementary school student interests. In addition to popular vessel based marine science programs aboard our R/V Enviro-Lab we expanded our on the water efforts to support environmental science programs and the gathering and sharing of citizen science data gathered by our students. We participated in the Unified Water Study and the Lobster Trap Recovery and Assessment Program supporting regional efforts to monitor and improve the health of Long Island Sound and the results of this work also benefits our students giving us additional data and knowledge to teach educational programs with.
