Each student is encouraged to shape their own learning experiences. This continues in our 7th grade service requirement where students choose what organizations and causes they would like to support through volunteering. As 8th graders, each student chooses a skill they would like to begin or hone and turn that into a year-long project that requires them to study with a community mentor and give a presentation to the entire school at the end of the year about what they learned and accomplished. This approach in our curriculum extends to our financial aid process which is need-based and uses quantitative information. In the 2023-2024 school year, we awarded financial assistance to approximately 40% of our student body, with awards up to 90% of the tuition cost. We have many different class options that are very popular. Most, if not all, of the teachers are either NOVA teachers or NOVA alumni. All financial aid applicants must submit a financial form to Financial Aid for School Tuition (FAST) each year. The role of FAST is to make a determination of how much a family can afford to pay in tuition. Nova School's financial aid committee meets to go over each application.
