The GFO promotes genealogy and provides genealogical education, preserves and documents genealogical and historical resources, and compiles and publishes within the genealogical community. 0 0 95803 15529 1135 GFO maintains a research library with over 56,000 holdings serving the entire Pacific Northwest. The library is normally open to both GFO members and the public. In most years, hundreds of patrons use the library in-person, but in 2021-2022 the physical library was closed over 200 days due to the Covid-19 pandemic and patronage is still recovering. We continue our online offerings. In this fiscal year we had 2300 unique visitors each month on the website. Another ongoing initiative is digitizing materials, especially one-of-a-kind holdings and publications at risk of deteriorating; this year we made over 100,000 additional pages of images available to members online. 7214 0 5396 The GFO holds numerous classes and workshops during the year to teach people how to trace their own family histories. Conducted a week-long conference online with 19 educational sessions. Hosted over 100 special-interest group meetings throughout the year. A primary objective of the organization is to preserve and share historical published material and records for genealogical research. Members enjoy free access to the library, the members section on the web site, and a copy of publications (by email). However, members are not entitled to any share of the organization's earnings , nor of any assets in the event of dissolution.
