In 2024, the initiative advanced laboratory work on cell transplant integration and gene-based treatment strategies for optic nerve repair.Global OutreachCGF conducted international training and surgical missions to expand glaucoma care capacity in low-resource regions.Colombia Mission Trip August 1316, 2024Led by Dr. Davinder Grover of Glaucoma Associates of Texas, the Cure Glaucoma Foundation partnered with the Colombian Society of Ophthalmology to conduct advanced training for Colombian ophthalmologists in Cartagena. The program included hands-on instruction and live surgical observation focused on glaucoma surgery and MIGS techniques, further strengthening the Foundations commitment to global capacity building.Observership Training ProgramThe CGF Observership Program hosted international ophthalmologists for clinical and surgical training at Glaucoma Associates of Texas (GAT) in Dallas. Each observer spent one to two weeks learning advanced diagnostic and surgical techniques alongside GAT physicians. Participants in 2024 included physicians from India. CGF funding ensured equitable access to training opportunities for ophthalmologists from underserved regions.Access to CareCGFs Access to Care Project continued to reduce the burden of glaucoma-related blindness in Dallas County by providing specialized eye care to uninsured and underinsured patients.South Dallas Glaucoma Services Clinic 2024In partnership with the Center for Vision Health and Glaucoma Associates of Texas, the clinic delivered comprehensive glaucoma care to residents of ZIP codes 75210, 75216, 75217, and 75241 areas with high rates of untreated glaucoma and limited access to specialty care. During 2024, 82 patients received examinations, treatment, and follow-up surgery.
