It also communicates regularly with all members through a monthly printed magazine and weekly electronic communications that provide timely information on matters of significance to its members. The Society hosts an annual conference each year in a different part of the country for members that includes business matters for the Society, but also recreational and networking opportunities. The Society's 112 chapters are supported through a membership database and materials sent from Society headquarters in Virginia. The Society provides support to members and family members concerning their federal benefits. The chapters provide local networking opportunities and ongoing training for members. The Society also maintains an on-line career center assisting members obtain post-FBI employment. The Society also provides career days in locations around the country, where speakers provide training to associate and regular members concerning how to obtain employment after their employment with the FBI. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 6 The organization has four types of members: Regular, Life, Associate, and Legacy Partner. Regular membership shall be open exclusively to men and women who formerly served as Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and who served with due fidelity to their oath of office. Associate membership shall be open to current Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, United States Department of Justice, who are serving with due fidelity to their oath of office. Legacy partnership shall be open exclusively to spouses of deceased members. Life membership in the Society may be awarded to and bestowed upon any deserving member or legacy partner by an affirmative vote of a majority of the Board members present at any regular or special meeting. The criteria for such award shall be established by the Board of Directors. Upon the affirmative vote of the Board of Directors, a Life membership may be awarded regardless of age or length of membership or Legacy partnership in the Society. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 7a The National Officers, including the President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Regional Vice Presidents, are elected by the general membership. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11b A copy of the Form 990 is first provided to the Executive Director and Treasurer, who each review and approve the return. It is then sent to the entire Board of Directors for approval before it is filed with the IRS. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c All board members are required to provide an annual Conflict of Interest Disclosure Statement. The organization reviews the responses and have not had any listed. We do further inquiry when the trustees review the scholarships to confirm they have no conflicts with the applicants or with the grantees of assistance cases. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 15a The Executive Committee of the Board of Directors evaluates the Executive Director and makes decisions on compensation. Management performs the annual evaluations for key officers and employees. Form 990, Part VI, Section C, line 19 Requests for documents will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Form 990, Part XII, Line 2c: The Society's Board of Directors assumes responsibility for oversight of the audit of its financial statements and selection of an independent accountant.
