The majority of our visitors are middle, high school, and college students. Visitors participate in an interactive tour with a survivor or docent. A significant percentage of our walk-in visitors travel hundreds of miles to visit the museum. 155405 211244 CANDLES administers educational travel programs to the Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland as well as other places, such as Romania and Hungary. The tours are led by survivors and scholars who offer immersive, intensive study tours of places with historical ties to the Holocaust, genocides, and other human rights crises. Our tours attract participants from all over the USA and internationally and from all walks of life. Special emphasis is placed on teachers and students, many of whom receive scholarships to attend. 750 Our film and speaker series brings survivors of genocide, award-winning filmmakers, scholars, and human rights advocates to speak with students, educators and community members.
