Unlike medical hospice, a client does not have to have a prognosis of six months or less to live and can still be pursuing curative treatment. Once a family has lost a loved one, HVSC provides bereavement services. Those services include mailings, phone calls, support groups and memorial events. All our services are provided at no charge to residents we serve. Volunteers are the backbone of our organization. Volunteers donate their time and skills. Volunteers take a training program that also includes work outside the classroom and each volunteer must undergo a background check. While most hospice clients receive services in their home, some clients are visted in nursing homes. No review was conducted. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c The HVOSC policy is reviewed every 4 years, updated and voted on by all its members. A digital copy of the board policy is distributed to all board members. Two board members meet with potential board members and are given a copy of the HVOSC policies and the policies are discussed. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 15b Annual reviews include an evaluation form sent to board members, volunteers and other designated people. The employee(s) are also asked to do a self-evaluation. Scores and comments are gathered by the board chair who then meets to complete the evaluation with the employee(s). All salary and hourly rates are made by the board and these results show up in the minutes of the board meeting that the issue be being decided.
