They are maintained to provide investment income that helps to support the general needs of the organization for operating capital. The Directors have interpreted the state of Missouri enacted version of the Uniform Prudent Management of Institutional Funds Act (UPMIFA) as requiring the preservation of the fair value of the original gift as of the gift date of the donor-restricted endowment funds absent explicit donor stipulations to the contrary. AcruxKC board member and AccessKC Impact Committee member Karole Bradford is the CEO of KCMSF. 0 Form 990 Part II - Discussion of Program Service Accomplishments Discussion of Program Service Accomplishments, 4a AccessKC (formerly Kansas City's Medicine Cabinet or KCMC), established in 2005, continued to promote health equity by meeting the needs of the bi-state Kansas City area's low-income, uninsured and underinsured population. The voucher-based program helps individuals with financial need to access emergency dental care, dentures/partials, prescriptions, durable medical equipment, hearing aids, and eye exams and glasses. Individuals visit one of 50+ partner nonprofit agency intake sites across the region to get a voucher, which they take to one of 115+ participating vendor sites. The vendor fulfills the service and invoices AcruxKC/AccessKC, which covers 100% of the cost. Intake sites include wraparound social services providers, domestic violence shelters, and Cancer Action. Since its inception, AccessKC has provided 52,000+ services valued at $13.25+ million to 39,000+ unduplicated individuals. From January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024, the program provided 3,400+ services valued at over $1.2 million to 3,050+ unduplicated individuals. AcruxKC awarded 72 nursing scholarships and five respiratory therapy scholarships. Educational grants were awarded in support of family practice residents and healthcare providers to enhance their clinical skills. Funding from the Dr. Jack H. Hill Continuing Medical Education Fund supported continuing medical education opportunities for medical professionals. In 2024, the annual Orear Institute for Postgraduate Medical Studies delivered a two-day medical conference to 75 physicians and other medical professionals. Grants to a postgraduate pastoral care program supported the development of spiritual and clinical skills of individuals who offer assistance to patients and their families. AcruxKC disbursed grant funding to community-based organizations, school districts and charter schools. This included awards for the benefit of youth with an arthritis diagnosis, to support students' physical and mental health, and other purposes. Disbursements from the Lena Green Trust supported the purchase of equipment for Jackson County-based safety net clinics.
