We have a separate account opened for the Dream Team with a Board approved budget they maintain an expense spreadsheet that is reconciled and reviewed monthly. Item B - Amended Return While preparing to file our fiscal year 2023 form 990 discrepancies were found when reconciling against the fiscal year 2022 ending balances. The issue was tracked back to our fiscal year 2021 return. We are amending both of those 990s so that we can confidently submit an accurate 2023 form 990. The errors that caused the problem in 2021 was that a savings account was recorded twice and multiple checking accounts were not accounted for. This caused both the 2021 and 2022 returns to overstate our assets and understate our revenue and expenses. After discussing this issue with an IRS agent amending the two inaccurate form 990s before submitting the 2023 form 990 seemed like the best course of action. The 2021 amended return is completed but it is not eligible for e-filing and will be mailed to the IRS within a week.
