HOF also broke ground on the nearly $6.5 million new Oakland Cemetery Visitor Center outside the Cemetery's main western gate in late 2023. Adjacent to HOF's preservation and restoration work, and with HOF as a critical partner, the City of Atlanta invested $2.4 million in to the restoration of historic Oakland Cemetery's roads, irrigation, and storm water infrastructure. 1021813 Gardens - In 2023, HOF's gardens teams continued to expand how much of the Cemetery was under theFoundation's control through expanded work on the East Hill as well as increased activity restoring and maintaining private lots. With increased maintenance activity the Foundation actively maintains almost 18 acres of the Cemetery. 471641 82147 Programming/Education - With the expansion of Illumine, Sunday in the Park, Capturing the Spirit of Oakland, and Dia de Muertos - the Foundation's signature special events had a strong year welcoming tens of thousands of visitors of all ages to the Cemetery.
