The program consists of eight scheduled sessions between the Student-Athletes and their Handshake America Coaches over the course of one year. The sessions are workshop-type group discussions focusing on the Handshake America Five Practices of Success. The Foundation distributes awards directly to the educational institution in which the recipient is enrolled, not directly to the student. Each recipient receives a $1,000 scholarship. Schedule I, Part III Scholarship are given in the amount of $1,000 for each student completing the program. There were no recipients receiving more than $5,000.
