In 2023, 6,986 organizations were registered and impacted by SAC through The National Database, providing valuable information on animal shelter and other data. Of the total 6,986 organizations, 4,249 were rescues (61%), 2,610 were shelters (37%), and 127 were non-sheltering service providers (2%). Members who submitted 12 consecutive months of data at the end of 2023 totaled 1,900. The grants are awarded to accomplish a stated objective, and the Board ensures those funds are spent in accordance with that purpose through monitoring and follow-up procedures with the recipients.
