Children learn how to share their thoughts and feelings about their family situations, that they are not alone and that their parents divorce is not their fault, thus freeing them up from self-blame. Parents gain insight into their words, actions and behaviors and learn how to accept the thoughts and feelings of their children without judging, minimizing or invalidating them. This program continues to be offered virtually. Teens who graduated from the program created a poster called Tips for Parents How to start a good communication with your teens. It read, Dont talk to us like adults but treat us like actual teenagers, Spend more time with us, Listen to what we are trying to say, Do things together that we both enjoy. This poster was proudly read by the teens during the program graduation. Children who attend this program find their voice and learn ways to share their thoughts and feelings in constructive and creative ways. Whether in-person or virtual, Kids Turn San Diego continues to change lives by empowering children and healing families. Form 990, Part III, Line 4b The Cooperative Co-Parenting Program is a high conflict court approved co-parenting class. This program is offered virtually. Parents gain new awareness of their emotional and thought triggers, including what they are, where they came from and how to avoid them. Skills focus on understanding our role in high conflict and making choices to no longer engage. Parents learn that through loss, anger and pain, positive changes are possible, no matter how desperate they may feel. Form 990, Part III, Line 4c Our Counseling Program offers a continuum of care for children and parents who have attended our co-parenting programs. For children, we provide a safe place for children ages 5-17 to talk about their family situation and to further develop coping and communication skills that help them manage themselves within their two homes. For parents, we offer advanced refresher Continue the Conversation Classes and The Graduate Program, as way to gain individual support and further skill building. These services were offered virtually throughout the year. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b Executive Director reviews the 990 tax return contents and disclosures with CPA prior to filing. Executive Director then presents the 990 to the Finance Committee for review. The Finance Committee presents the reviewed 990 to the Board of Directors for final approval prior to filing. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12c Annual evaluation of conflict of interest statements are performed by the Board of Directors. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15a The executive team of the Board of Directors researches Executive Director salaries via a salary assessor and head hunters. The Executive Director researches program director salaries by reviewing job postings of other Non-Profit Organizations in San Diego and Orange Counties. Form 990, Part XII, Line 1 The Organization uses the modified cash basis of accounting. Modifications to the cash basis include recording deferred revenue for unearned program service fees and employees accrued vacation.
