<PrimaryExemptPurposeTxt>Asali?s mission is to improve childhood quality of life worldwide through education, arts, and health initiatives. Asali collaborates with locally run partner organizations to develop programs focused on improving the lives of children around the world. Asali currently partners with Simba?s Footprints, an organization in Tanzania that runs after-school programming and events at its community center in Majengo, Moshi. Through mentorship, financial support, and program development assistance, Asali supports three major programs at Simba?s Footprints. All projects are a collaboration between Asali and Simba?s.</PrimaryExemptPurposeTxt>

<DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt>Women and Girl's Empowerment - This year, Asali again worked in conjunction with Simba?s Footprints and Women Fund Tanzania were able to write and secure grant funding for the Binti Yetu Program (Our Daughter?s Program). This grant allows the team on the ground to have more dollars to strengthen their women?s education, health, and entrepreneurship programing. The Binti Yetu program allows trained social workers to run programming in public schools to teach girls (ages 12-15) about their menstruation and reproductive rights, and more. In addition to funds to improve on their programs offered to women and girls, the grant allowed for professional development opportunities for the staff. Providing professional development opportunities for our partners is a key component to what Asali does.</DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt>

<DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt>One of Asali?s major points of focus is English language development. English is critical for Tanzanian students? education, as after Standard 7 (ages 12-14), the entire education system switches from Swahili to English. Access to education beyond Standard 7 is dependent upon a passing score on the National Exam, which contains a difficult English language section. Many students are unable to complete their education because they are unable to pass the exam. Due to these challenges for the students, Asali?s flagship program is focused on increasing access to high-quality English education. Our current English initiative is two-fold: providing an English Club during school hours and teacher training after school. This past year Asali reached a total of over 370 children and women through our English program through our continued work with three primary schools, Langoni Primary School, Mji Mpya Primary School and Miembeni Primary School. All of these schools are among the five primary schools in Simba?s community. After collaborative meetings between school headmasters, Simba?s representatives, and Asali board members, English programming will continue for students in three grade levels at each establishment. We look forward to strengthening our relationship with both schools as we continue to collaborate. Our students are excited and engaged during class and have reported that they greatly enjoy the interactive teaching techniques. We continue to provide English education for fifteen young women enrolled in the sewing program at Simba?s Footprints.</DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt>

<DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt>Asali continued to fund a Sustainability Project, otherwise known as ?The Chicken Project? at Simba?s Community Center. The aim of this project is to generate local income to cover overhead costs of the organization and to teach older adolescents who were no longer attending school life skills. Oftentimes families that have the ability to raise poultry have more regular access to food and can also generate income for their families. Our hope is that giving these adolescents access to this type of life skill education allows them to become entrepreneurs and take ownership of their lives and futures. This year Simba?s has added maize production to the agriculture project. We have five acres of operating farmland.</DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt>

<DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt>Arts and Culture The music program continues to grow both in number and students abilities. We were able to add additional instruments to the studio and a computer which will allow the students to start recording. This year the music students participated in a variety of community events where they were able to showcase their talents. The growth in their skills is evident to everyone who watches them perform. We continued our scholarship that was awarded to Herbert who has been part of our Music program since 2019 and has demonstrated a high level of discipline, leadership skills, and hard work. This year we have enrolled him at a music college in Bagamoyo where he will be studying music and sound production for three years. Simba?s has started a fully functional band providing income for the members trained at the community center. We believe by providing future education opportunities to the young people in our community, we can impact the community?s high unemployment rate and reduce dependence. We have also dedicated funds to repairing and maintaining instruments, providing students with performance attire, and keeping our experienced staff available to provide lessons and support to our students.</DescriptionProgramSrvcAccomTxt>
