They received training, mentorship and tutoring. The program participants focused on learning about heat stress, higher education, and the farmworker justice movement. They made one campus visit to a North Carolina university. The students also participated in a documentary workshop. This was the first year of returning to fully in-person meetings and workshops. Solidaridad Internship: Five college students from the Raleigh-Durham area worked as interns from September to April. The interns met weekly to participate in workshops, panels and site visits. They learned about farmworker justice and nonprofit work. They met worker rights advocates, planned SAF events, create communication tools, and organize actions. Pt VI, Line 11b Before the 990 is filed with the IRS, the executive committee reviews and recommends its approval to the full board. A complete copy of the Form 990 is provided to each voting member of the Board of Directors. Pt VI, Line 12c When SAF contracts with individuals or organizations or hires individuals, management reviews the conflict of interest policy to ensure compliance. The Board signs an annual pledge which includes the conflict of interest policy. Pt VI, Line 15a The salaries of the executive director and the assistant director are determined by a pay schedule added to the organization's personnel policies after SAF's last union contract negotiation in 2022. The Organizational Capacity Committee, which is made up of several Board and staff members, reviewed the schedule which mirrors the union contract in the way it determines initial salaries based on experience and annual pay raises. SAF has an additional policy that caps the top executive's salary to no more than twice that of the lowest paid employee. The full board approves changes in personnel policies as by the OC committee.
