Our organization's strategic goals are inspired by and rooted in our three pillars: community, information, and impact. The RPCV Alliance for Ukraine successfully continued the Peremoha Mini-Grants program that was first launched in 2022. A single solicitation of grant proposals was held in the summer of 2023, which awarded $19,311 USD across 13 projects serving vulnerable populations and internally displaced persons in Ukraine-6 grants delivered food and/or medicine, 4 grants supported mental health and/or psychosocial support projects, 2 grants equipped bomb shelters, and 1 grant provided specialized equipment for people with disabilities. 19311 X 19406 The RPCV Alliance for Ukraine directly procured and ensured delivery of more than $16,000 USD worth of trauma first aid supplies-including 80 assembled Individual First Aid Kits, 100 tourniquets, bandages, and foot/hand warmers-to medical personnel in Ukraine's hardest-hit conflict areas. We also collaborated with another NGO, Ed's Friends Ukraine, to raise funds for, procure, and deliver a portable ultrasound device for a doctor near the front lines to use in rapid diagnostics and triage of injuries. Our volunteer team aggregated needs from trusted groups across Ukraine to coordinate the procurement and transportation of supplies with the benefit of bulk pricing, and ensured delivery to intended beneficiaries. 1115 17390 Babusya's Kitchen raises awareness of Ukraine's rich culinary contributions and inspires new American audiences to try Ukrainian cuisine, supporting the broader goal of preserving Ukrainian culture at a time when it is under threat. After publishing Babusya's Kitchen Cookbook in 2022, the RPCV Alliance for Ukraine continued to distribute the book directly through online sales from our website and through individual agreements with a growing number of independent bookstores. All distribution was handled entirely by volunteers. Alliance volunteers also highlighted Babusya's Kitchen and shared our stories at 10+ educational and cultural events, including Ukrainian cultural festivals, meet-the-author nights, and community fairs. In addition to raising funds for our grants program, these efforts advanced our mission of supporting a globally-connected Ukraine, along with the Third Goal of the Peace Corps: To help promote a better understanding of other peoples on the part of Americans. 0 4263 After launching our intensive Uniting for Ukraine initiative in 2022, which provided 46 Ukrainians with refuge by matching them with vetted U.S. sponsors, we combined our efforts with North America for Ukraine (NA4Ukraine). We migrated our beneficiary waitlist to NA4Ukraine to ensure Ukrainians who requested assistance from us were added to their system. This partnership enabled us to focus on providing cross-cultural training, while NA4Ukraine handled sponsor-beneficiary matching. Overall, we delivered 6 cross-cultural workshops for groups of American sponsors, and 3 cross-cultural workshops for groups of Ukrainian beneficiaries. As such, in 2023 we signed onto several letters authored by these groups and delivered to national elected officials to advocate for certain legislative or budgetary actions. We additionally used our e-newsletter and social media platforms to raise awareness of Ukraine- or Peace Corps-related legislative matters among our membership, primarily by sharing content authored by these other organizations. We used these same channels to encourage our members to participate in the American Coalition for Ukraine's annual advocacy summit, but did not financially sponsor the event. These advocacy activities were primarily grassroots in nature and incurred no direct financial costs. Form 990-EZ, Part II, Line 26 Sales tax payable Form 990-EZ, Part V, Line 34 The RPCV Alliance for Ukraine Board of Directors adopted amendments to the organization's bylaws in May 2023 to more accurately describe the organization's exempt purpose by explicitly including grantmaking, and to reflect new titles/roles of Officers. These amendments eliminated the position of President and replaced it with two new positions: Director of Strategic Planning, and Director of Operations. The office of Treasurer was renamed as Director of Finance. Additionally, the Board amended the organization's Articles of Incorporation to match the updated exempt purpose description, clarify the definition of "members" in the organization, and incorporate a dissolution clause. The Board filed these Articles of Amendment with the Washington, DC Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection. We requested and were granted a 6-month extension to allow time for reconciling our 2023 financial documents after adopting a new accounting system.
