The Galens members vote on grant application proposals through a graded system, proposals are read independently by 3-4 members and each one is presented to the organization. Members then vote on the proposals and amount to be funded for each project publicly. The Financial Allocations Committee creates the disbursement list and sends out grant acceptance letters. The Senior and Junior treasurer then submit award requests to the UM SOAS team who reviews the grant award request and executes the payment process. All grant awards are filled through the UM Donation Fund Account associated with Galens Medical Society through the SOAS account system. Once the grants are awarded to the organizations it is up to their organizational management processes to ensure funds are used correctly. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b no review will be conducted with the members Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19 Governing documents, conflict of interest policy, and financial statements are made available upon written request. Due to students schedules, we were unable to complete the final accounting by the deadline.
