The Museum uses these collections for educational programs and exhibits relating to the American Civil War for the enjoyment and viewing of the general public. Schedule D, Part V, Line 4 The Museum intends to invest the funds in perpetuity for which the earnings & gains may be spent towards the overall betterment of the Museum. Schedule D, Part X, Line 2 The Internal Revenue Service determined that the Museum is exempt from Federal income tax under Code Section 501c3 of the US Internal Revenue Code and is therefore exempt from Federal income tax on all activities related to the Museum's exempt purpose. The Museum follows the provisions of FASB's ASC Topic 740, which requires an assessment of the Museum's exposure to income taxes at the entity level as a result of potentially uncertain, tax provisions taken in the current filed tax returns. Presently, management believes that it is more likely than not that the Museum's tax position will be sustained upon examination and therefor has no exposure to income taxes.
