This gift was a one-time gift from the donor to provide the Organization with economic stability as it was just getting started. This donor had never contributed to the Organization prior, nor has the donor subsequently contributed to the Organization. If that million dollar grant was removed, the Public support percentage would be in excess of 33 1/3%, thus qualifying the Organization as a public charity. 2) The Organization encourages donations from the general public through its website and through its connections with academic, scientific, and research organizations, such as New York University, and through other means; and 3) The Organization's Board does not represent any narrow interests and is committed to advancing medical and scientific knowledge that may result in novel substance abuse disorder medicines becoming more widely available to the general public. This research provides community benefit that far exceeds the investment made by the Organization, thus providing significant multiples on donor contributions. For example, the Organization estimates that on an annual basis: over 16 million Americans struggle with alcoholism; that 2.8 million people worldwide seek treatment for alcoholism; and that 88,000 people in the US die from alcoholism. The Organization's work could advance treatments that may benefit this large population of people in need and help to reduce these tragic statistics. During the year ending December 31, 2022, Ceruvia Lifesciences agreed to loan the Organization $1,000,000 pursuant to a promissory note agreement. The purpose of the note was to provide an immediate source of funding for the Organization to continue its charitable purpose. During the year ending December 31, 2023, the Organization repaid the loan in full. In accordance with the intent and original loan agreement, the Organization was not charged any interest for access to these funds over the life of the loan.
