On 9/30/2022 the person that was responsible for completing the return (who also served as Field Memorial Community Hospital's CFO), resigned. An interim CFO was brought in from 10/1/2022-2/28/2023. On 3/1/2023, I was hired as the new CFO and person responsible for completing the return. I was unaware that the Reach Foundation tax return had not been filed for the 2022 year until I received the IRS notice. I understand that the Foundation could face a penalty for late filing; however, due to the circumstances of the previous CFO's departure and the non-continuity of having an interim CFO for a period of time, we respectfully request that these penalties not be imposed. We have taken steps to ensure that the returns are done timely in the future, regardless of the personnel on staff. Thank you for your attention and consideration of this matter.
