Donations to the Foundation are typically in the range of $50 to $500, with the occasional gift or bequest of $10,000 or more. The fluctuating levels of contributions and the relatively large portion of restricted principal funds means that investment income usually represents a substantial portion of the funds available for grants and loans. Investment income and contributions are subject to considerable fluctuations from year to year depending on the economic climate and securities markets as well as the generosity of donors.
