Programs include wells and safe water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Bio-Sand and Ceramic Filters, Rooftop Rainwater Harvest tanks (RRH), Gardens, Agriculture and Pass-On Animals, Economic opportunities, Healthcare workshops, especially for women, Days for Girls Kits and extensive Educational Enrichment programs for children from preschools through graduation. Education programs include instruction in the students' native language of Khmer, Math, English, Computers, Literacy and Library Time, Traditional Cambodian Dance, Health and Hygiene. Youth Clubs are led by older students who organize community service projects, host events and develop leadership skills. All paid staff members are native Cambodians. Access to year-round Safe Water and Sanitation Hygiene (WASH) continues to be a cornerstone of our village sustainability programs. Water supports gardens that build food security. Water supports agriculture, livestock and cash crops that lead to economic growth. Household filtered water and food provide children (who are often the main water carriers for their families) with time and heath to attend school to grow their futures. In 2023 Community Development Program Accomplishments and Beneficiaries included 10 Animal Pass-On Cows to benefit 10 families with 59 people with farm labor and economic opportunities; 10 Deep Wells to benefit 66 families with 338 people with year-round water for drinking and daily use; Trainings and 26 Latrines to benefit 116 people with improved sanitation and hygiene; 39 RRH tanks to benefit 38 families and 1 school to benefit 444 people by capturing rainwater in large concrete tanks, sealed to prevent contamination; 1 Large Concrete Filter to benefit 1 school with 478 children and 31 Ceramic Filters to benefit 149 people with home water filtration systems to reduce water-borne diseases and to improve health and productivity; 2 school gardens and 8 family home gardens, seeds and tools and 21 trainings to benefit 152 people with increased nutrition and composting skills. 4 additional agricultural trainings for 48 villagers and 9 Self-Help Group trainings to benefit 167 villagers strengthen community sustainability. 335951 0 In 2023, a cornerstone of our Education Program continued to be Supplemental and Enrichment Education for the children in participating villages. Supplemental instruction strengthens our rural students' readiness to advance to the next grades in their state schools. Courses include English, Khmer Language, Math, Computers and Research and Library time. Special tutoring in advanced Sciences and Math assists older students in preparing for their 12th grade state exams. Enrichment activities include Youth Club and Student Councils that develop management and leadership skills through their self-directed community service projects, Traditional Dance Classes. In each school, students receive essential learning materials, including paper, pens and books. Our Libraries have become centers of increased literacy with interactive teaching and learning activities like Read-Alouds. Most importantly, our students love to learn. In the TC Swartz and Wong Schools, projects included far-reaching improvements to the school campuses with walkways, playgrounds, plants, flowers. In all, 2,601 students from preschool through graduation benefitted from our school programs. We provided 5 training in hand-washing, clean water and sanitation to benefit 102 students. In addition to their classroom activities, 147 students received bicycles to assist their commutes to school, 289 students received school supplies. 20 laptops and 10 Chromebooks increased access to computer literacy in our lab and research classes. Community School in remote Chhueteal Rong provided English classes for 83 students. Construction of a new library in Robong Romeas Primary School promotes literacy in a remote area. 20342 13077 In 2023 we continued to conduct extensive trainings and supplies to support dental, hygiene and handwashing practices for 528 students and parents. Our Days for Girls Program led 10 trainings in menstrual health and hygiene to benefit students in schools. We also provided 902 supply kits to assist the young women in managing their monthly cycles, staying active in school and helping them to save money. Emergency funds assisted students with operations and extensive follow-up care. Additional funds supported dormitory students with food and supplies. Several children were assisted with dental. Upon completion of the internal audit, she provides Volunteer Director Richard Allen with copies of all documents and worksheets for his review. Mr. Allen is a longtime accounting professional. In the process of completing Form 990, Mastin clarifies all revenue and expense transactions in the organization's QuickBooks accounting file with onsite Finance Manager in Cambodia and reconciles all grant and special project activity that are managed in designated bank accounts. Participants in management teams are in frequent email correspondence throughout the year and during annual onsite director visits to provide encouragement and guidance in daily operations. During annual staff meetings and retreats, all participants review policies, including Conflict of Interest and Code of Ethics. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12c Visiting Directors meet with the organization's Executive Team to clarify the Conflict of Interest Policy by providing relevant examples. As previously described, during annual staff meetings, the whole team is required to review the COI and confirm that they are in compliance. Should there be any concerns, they are instructed to direct any questions to the directors. Additionally, Volunteer Director Mastin provides the international board with copies of the COI for their review and completion. The timing of their advanced wired funds and the dates of their incurred in-country expenses do not always happen in the same fiscal year. For example, funds for the January and February 2023 Rotary Journey to Cambodia trips were wired in 2022. The difference in 2023 is -$52,581. Other volunteer trip differences include Youthlinc $2,476, Discova $11,835, Bayview College -$78, Rotary Club of Pursat -$897 and general $350 for a total difference of - $38.895.
