Through our support, the team has engaged a community gardening program, movie nights, a bible study group, and marriage and family strengthening programs. Leadership development and community heath evangelism are key components of training, preparing leaders to lead with strength and to understand the many forms of poverty that hold people back, such as spiritual, educational, motivational, and relational poverty. We believe this is one pathway to community healing and transformation in the greater Reading area.To this end, we trained under Becky Hass, an international advocate and trainer on using a trauma informed approach, the Adverse Childhood Experiences ACEs study and Positive Childhood Experiences PCEs study.We hired Becky to present her Building a Healing-Centered, Trauma-Responsive Organization to our team and some key community leaders in July.In addition, Becky trained six of our team members to be trainers, so that we can bring this important training to our community.We will launch Trauma-Informed Community Training as part of our organizations work in future years.
