Line 28) During Youth Ag Day we provided students with an opportunity to learn about one of the many commodities grown in our county, corn. Students learned all the different uses for corn. We also read an age appropriate book to continue to reinforce to students how important agriculture is to our community. Line 29) Jefferson County Farm Bureau hosted a a first grade poster and 5th grade essay contest. Students focused on an agriculture related topic for this contest. The goal was for students to be exposed to agriculture's impact and importance in a format for their specific age group. Line 30) We participated in Farm City Week which is dedicated to recognizing the partnerships between rural and urban communities. We presented the annual Farm Family of the Year award to a family who exemplified environmental stewardship and best management practices.
