The special fundraising events provide opportunity for interaction and involvement between community members, community leaders, Hanford Community Hospital and the Foundation. false false 537278 537278 260763 The Central Valley Health Foundation provided financial support for the Central Valley Network, which includes Adventist Health Hanford, Adventist Health Selma, Adventist Health Reedley, Adventist Health Tulare and their related clinics. In addition, support is being provided for the hospice operated by Western Health Resources (WHR) and for other humanitarian purposes.Many employees at Adventist Health in the Central Valley support the Central Valley Health Foundations Employee Emergency Fund. The Employee Emergency Fund was created to support employees during an unexpected financial hardship. Employees are asked to fill out an application which is reviewed by Human Resources and an established committee. In 2023, $18,547 was disbursed to 23 employees. Adventist Health knows that our greatest strength is our employees, and the Employee Emergency Fund is one of the many ways Adventist Health invests in the wellbeing of our people. Adventist Health in the Central Valley has three birth centers, Hanford, Tulare, and Reedley. With thousands of deliveries happening each year, not every delivery outcome is a positive one. The Healing Hearts Fund was established by employees who wanted to do something to support the mothers who experience the loss of a baby at our hospitals. The Healing Hearts fund gives mothers the opportunity to have their childs funeral expenses covered up to $1,000. The Birth Centers also provide other forms of support which helps our patients and employees during a tragic time. In 2023, financial support of $6,792 was provided to 13 receipients. Separately, let us share an experience that illustrates how we care for our community:I was in labor, but unfortunately, it wasn't progressing like it should. I was told by Dr. Thomas Enloe that if by 11 p.m. I didn't progress any further, I would need to think about having a C-section.At 11 p.m. I was still the same, so Dr. Enloe was called in to proceed with a C-section. Within a couple of minutes, I felt what I thought was my water breaking. Suddenly, I had every nurse on the floor in my room, including the nursing supervisor, who introduced herself to me.Being a former employee of Adventist Health, I knew if the nursing supervisor was in my room and checking me as well, something was wrong. I was then rushed to the Operating Room because my uterus had ruptured. While there, the nurses and Dr. Enloe worked so fast. Before I knew it, my son was born, and nurses were already tending to him.As I was recovering on the third floor, the nurses were very caring, reassuring me I would be fine. It was very comforting. After I was moved to the second floor, I had two nurses that took great care of me. They made sure my pain level was tolerable, and they helped me and cared for me just as well as the nurses on third floor.I later found out just how potentially fatal the situation could have been. Both Dr. Enloe, as well as the on-call physician Dr. Kryns, said had I not been in the hospital, it could have been fatal to both the baby and/or me.My husband and I are so grateful for the nursing staff that took care of us. Besides being quick to respond, they were very kind and caring during the whole ordeal. CVHF regards the well-being of the Central Valley Network employees as a determining factor in the well-being of the organization as a whole. The Employee Assistance Fund has been established with the purpose of addressing the various hardships of the employees on a need-only basis. Contributions are being collected by payroll deduction from those employees who chose to participate. An Employee Assistance Fund Committee meets periodically to determine the recipients and distributes the funds accordingly. The recipient must be an employee of the Central Valley Network to receive a distribution from this fund and payments are made directly to the entity providing the service. Most requests for distributions are made in connection with the loss of a loved family member or economic hardship. Funding provided to other organizations is provided to recipients with the understanding that the funds are being used only for the designated purposes.
