Research shows that it keeps dementia at bay or slows it down. The ARTS FACET also provided books and reading materials to middle school students to encourage reading and literacy. 21408 10000 0 The SERVICES TO YOUTH Facet awarded five $4,000 grants to four high school students and one college student attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). The SERVICES TO YOUTH Facet also hosted a Teacher Appreciation luncheon for middle school teachers. 3930 0 0 The Links, Incorporated established the HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES Facet in response to the chronic disparities that persist. This year, there was virtual participation in the DMV Links Red Dress event. This event takes place during the month of February and focuses on raising awareness for women's heart health. This event was in partnership with the American Heart Association. The HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES Facet also participated in the Walk for Healthy Living, a national event, that promotes healthy habits and self care. The HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES Facet participated in the Black Family Wellness Expo, a national event, which is designed to reduce health disparities for disadvantaged families of color. The expo offered CPR training, blood pressure checks, COVID test kits, live exercise demonstrations and more to the community. The HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES Facet also participated in the inaugural Remote Area Medical (RAM), a non-profit organization, pop-up clinic in Prince George's County. The RAM clinic provides no cost quality health care to medically underserved members of the community. The RAM clinic served 418 patients with eye exams and 145 pairs of eye glasses; dentists performed 205 tooth extractions, 118 fillings, and 44 cleanings; 146 medical exams; 56 breast services. Patients were provided flu vaccines and testing for HIV, cholesterol, and diabetes. 5365 0 0 NATIONAL TRENDS AND SERVICES (NTS) hosted a virtual March 2023 Links at the Legislature: A Day at the Maryland State House in Annapolis Advocacy for Policy to Improve the Health and Education of Children. There were additional expenses paid in the 2023-2024 Tax Year. 0 0 0 The Links Incorporated established the INTERNATIONAL TRENDS AND SERVICES Facet with the foremost goal of providing opportunities for tangible service in other countries. This facet provides services and delivers transformational programs to people of African ancestry globally so that they may have a better quality of life. Programs are designed and developed to service educational, health and cultural needs and to help people emerge from poverty. A primary objective of our international work is to enrich the lives of women and their families. Our "boots on the ground" approach provides for more personalized methods for assisting and improving the lives of women, children and men worldwide through long-term programs committed to empowerment and public policy leadership in advocating for social justice. International Women's Day - The Links, Incorporated takes this opportunity to assess the progress of women worldwide in their struggle for equality, peace and development. In April, to build on International Women's Month, we collaborated with the Association Of Black American Ambassadors and hosted an Embassy Hop in National Harbor, Maryland. A former Ambassador served as our Embassy Hop 2024 Keynote Speaker. Our chapter utilized this event to highlight our final day to collect books to donate to local Maryland Public School Libraries. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7b Members of the organization have a voice in how the governing body governs the organization. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b Our Treasurer completes the Form 990 and presents it to the President for review before submission. The filing is made a part of the Treasurer's report to the members of the Chapter and a copy is filed with the Archives Committee. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12c Members submit Ethics Compliance forms on an annual basis to certify they are in compliance with the Conflict of Interest policy.
