Records are kept of all donations by date paid, reference number, name of entity and nature of donation. All donations are reported to members at general meetings and are reported in a detailed schedule at the annual meeting. Form 990, Part III, Line 2 The assets of unincorporated Dana Point Woman's Club were donated to Community House, Inc. effective June 1, 2023, and the name was changed to Dana Point Women's Club, Inc. The philanthropic programs of Dana Point Woman's Club were added to the mission statement in the restated articles of incorporation. Programs support women, children and families in the South Orange County area through fundraising and donations, focusing on education, literacy and scholarships as well as poverty and homelessness prevention. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 6 Dana Point Women's Club is a membership organization with 79 members at the end of the 2023 fiscal year. Members vote for Board members and any changes in by-laws or major disposition of assets. Members pay a small membership fee (contribution) each year and continue or drop from membership at the end of the year at will. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7a Members vote for board members each year on a rotating basis. Board terms are two years. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7b Changes in by laws must be approved by a quorum of the members.After Board approval, all major renovations to the building or major changes to building operations engaging the property in any encumbrance, contract, or lease, must be approved by vote of a quorum of the membership at a regular or special meeting. Board members will be required annually to read the conflict of interest policy and disclose any interests that might give rise to conflicts with DPWC programs or business. Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19 DPWC publishes its bylaws on its website. The financial statements are presented to all members at the annual meeting. These and all policies and governing documents are available to the public upon request. DPWC is in the process of creating a conflict of interest policy using the guidelines suggested by the IRS and expects to formally adopt it in October 2024.
