(Continued on Schedule O)By marshalling survivor voices, community creativity, and business support to inform and educate the general community, Finding Our Voices seeks to help girls and women recognize, avoid, safely leave, and heal from dangerous relationships. Finding our Voices is an organization formed to administer programs that assist victims and survivors of domestic abuse and educate individuals and the general public about domestic abuse. 0 0 149231 0 512 Finding Our Voices is committed to bringing the issue of intimate partner abuse out of the shadows and into the light. In 2021 with seed money from the Sunshine Lady Foundation Finding Our Voices started the "Get Out, Stay Out" fund to assist domestic violence survivors with bills and other expenses to be able to get free and safe, and keep their children and pets safe as well. In 2023, the Get Out, Stay Out Fund assisted 175 Maine individuals and families. A draft of the Form 990 is prepared by the independent accountants and provided to the Organization for its review and consideration prior to filing; the Form 990 will only be filed with the IRS once the Organization's management has reviewed and approved the filing and after a copy of the Form 990 was made available to all active Board members. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c The Conflict of Interest Policy of Finding our Voices is defined and detailed in the organization's bylaws, and the Organization also complies with the requirements of Section 7.2 and Section 713 of Title 13-B of the Maine Nonprofit Corporation Act. Accordingly, board members of Finding Our Voices are required to disclose to the Organization and other board members any direct or indirect conflicts with which said individual may have a financial interest. Such transactions subject to a conflict of interest must be approved by the Organization in accordance with Title 13-B of the Maine Nonprofit Corporation Act. Any director, officer, employee, committee member or agent of the Corporation may be interested directly or indirectly in any contract relating to the operation of the Organization, and may freely make contracts, enter transactions or otherwise act on behalf of Finding Our Voices, notwithstanding that such person may also be acting for himself or herself or for a third party in so doing; provided, however, that any such contract or transaction shall be at arm's length and be in compliance with the requirements set forth in the above-named regulations. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 15 The Organization does not currently have a CEO or other top management official who is compensated by the Organization in return for services rendered to Finding our Voices. However, the Organization's bylaws stipulate that compensation of the officers shall be fixed from time to time by the Board. No officer shall be prevented from receiving a salary by reason of the fact that he or she is also a director of the Organization. The Organization may pay compensation in reasonable amounts to agents and employees for services rendered, such amount to be fixed by the Board or, if the Board delegates power to any officer or officers, then by such officer or officers. Furthermore, directors shall not receive compensation for their services as such, although reasonable expenses of directors for attendance at Board meetings may be paid or reimbursed by the Organization. Directors shall not be disqualified from receiving reasonable compensation for services rendered to or for the benefit of the Organization in any other capacity. Form 990, Part VI, Section C, line 19 The Organization's governing documents, conflict of interest policy, and financial statements are made available to the public upon request as required by applicable law.
