We publicize the recipients of our awards and scholarships in local newspapers and on-line websites to make potential donors aware of our organization and how their gift could help their local community. We also present our scholarships in a public ceremony to make others aware of our foundation. Schedule A, Part II, Line 10 In 2019 we sold items at our town's country fair. The primary purpose was to have some visual exposure at a well attended town event. 1 Michael Szewczyk received a scholarship which was paid directly to the University of Connecticut. The Horbal Tripp scholarship requires that only one applicant receive the award. Since the amount available each year is over $5,000, the recipient of this scholarship will always be in this category. After the grants are used, we verify that the funds were spent properly through a written report and we often visually observe the use of the funds. Scholarship recipients need to furnish a signed application, official transcripts, and at least one letter of recommendation. After the email is sent to all members, the members have two weeks to respond with questions, comments, or edits. Once there are no issues or questions, the return is filed. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12c Every May, we discuss our conflict of interest policy at a meeting. All members then disclose any potential conflicts in writing. These signed disclosures are then forwarded to our bank. If a Board member is directly related to any scholarship applicant or if they or an immediate family member are an officer of any grant applicant organization, then they are not present at the discussion or voting. Our bank requires all board members to furnish written verification of potential conflicts of interest before the bank makes any distributions. We have never paid any compensation to anyone and we do not award services contracts to any Board members or relatives of Board members. If they need our form 990 immediately, a google search currently shows our form 990s back to the year 2012. The Foundation filed a timely extension and the extension was granted.
