Volunteers are also recognized for their accomplishments and contributions to the Section. 15063 13607 Scholarships: The Section awards a select number of scholarships to individuals seeking advanced degrees and community college degrees in the water industry. Offered are, three advanced degree scholarships worth $3,500 each and three community college degrees worth $2,000 each. One of the three community college degree scholarships are provided with support of a grant for $1,000 from AWWA. The section also awards lesser value scholarships to members wanting to attend a management institute program run by Hamline University. 107188 99211 District Operations School: As per our strategic plan and bylaws, the Section was divided into six different districts: Central, Metro, SE, SW, NE, and NW. Each district holds training programs geared towards educating the water professionals within their district. The Section is invoiced for the WUMI scholarship winners and paid directly to the education institution (no money goes to the awardee). The Section reimburses Fall Conference Scholarship Awardees for paid expenses (must have receipts for reimbursement request). Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 6 Membership of the Section shall consist of those members of the Association residing in or having principal business activity in the Section and those assigned to the Section by the Executive Director of the American Water Works Association. The geographic boundaries of the MN Section are defined as the state of Minnesota. The Section shall be divided into sub-units, called "districts". The Section membership shall be assigned to districts, based on their association mailing address. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 7a All members of the Section who are in good standing are eligible to vote on Section business or business of the district when a vote of membership or district membership is required. Members have voting powers on actions specified in the bylaws.
