The form is reviewed by the Director responsible for each specific program as well as by the CFO and CEO. For the 2023 Form 990 reviews took place from March through May culminating in the electronic filing of the return. In order to comply with the California Department of Justice DOJ requirements for annual returns the decision was made to file the full Form 990 despite the option of a shorter form. The CFO and CEO carefully examine bank statements including all downloaded transactions to ensure the accurate recording of donations and receipts. All communications and decisions from these reviews are documented in the organization's annual board meeting minutes. Furthermore an Excel spreadsheet detailing all transactions along with supporting documentation for donations and receipts is included alongside the board minutes and the organization's filings with the IRS California State and California DOJ. The organization operates entirely through volunteer efforts with no paid employees or contractors. Our goal is to continue serving the community effectively and transparently.
