The purposes of the archive include scholarly research, traveling exhibits to public, government or educational establishment venues, and preservation for future reference. Items collected include books, papers, physical media, and oral histories as digital recordings, film and music media. The purpose of the collection is to document the long and varied history of the LGBTQ community in Kentucky. The value of the collection was obtained by insurance appraisal in 2023.
