Events were recorded for national public television distribution, podcast, and online access. The first event had Josh Chin, Deputy Bureau Chief for The Wall Street Journal in China and co-author of "Surveillance State: Inside China's Quest to Launch a New Era of Social Control" in conversation with Evan Osnos, author of the National Book Award winner, "Age of Ambition: Chasing Fortune, Truth, and Faith in the New China." The second event featured New York Times journalist Maggie Haberman being interviewed about her book, "Confidence Man: The Making of Donald Trump and the Breaking of America", by CNN Legal Analyst and SiriusXM broadcast host Laura Coates. The book is the definitive account of one of the most norms-shattering and consequential eras in American political history. The third event presented Pulitzer Prize-Winner Geraldine Brooks discussing her latest book, "Horse: A Novel", with former NPR Host and author Jacki Lyden. The novel is a sweeping story of spirit, obsession, and injustice across American history. 16280 0 0 All staged events are recorded for national distribution via public television ("Great Conversations"), podcast ("Great Podversations"), plus posted online. National broadcasts and online access increase both the scope and inclusiveness of those served by Forums. Kentucky Educational Television produces "Great Conversations", making it available to PBS affiliates nationwide. Episodes were broadcast over 4,000 times, reaching 78% of the country. Great Podversations are produced by Kentucky Author Forum and distributed by Louisville Public Media. Production began in 2020 so the Forum could continue fulfilling its mission during a time when theaters were closed due to COVID-19 precautions. These free podcasts are available globally on all major podcast apps. They were downloaded over 15,000 times. 1695 0 0 Kentucky Author Forum programming began in 1996 as part of a bicentennial effort of University of Louisville, which is the title sponsor. As schedules allow, authors and interviewers visit the campus. Josh Chin and Evan Osnos met with a group of East Asian Politics students for a seminar, along with a question and answer session. Geraldine Brooks met with Creative Writing students, and answered questions. Both events were open to the entire campus community and attendees included faculty, staff and alumni. Discounted tickets for the staged events in the evenings are also available to the campus community.
