Form 990, Part 1, Line 1, Description of Organization Mission The Riviera Village Association supports the business community to help maintain and improve physical surroundings of the Village as well as the business environment in the community. Some of the activities include, but not limited to the physical improvements, beautification efforts, general maintenance, advertising and promotion, volunteer activities, staging of events and involvement in the City and Community development efforts. Form 990, Part III, Line 1 - Organization Purpose The corporation is a nonprofit mutual benefit corporation organized under the Nonprofit Mutual Benefit Corporation Law. The purpose of the organization is to promote the business interest of the businesses within the Riviera Village Area of the City of Redondo Beach, California. Form 990, Part VI, Line 11b - Form 990 Review Process The 990 is presented to the Board for its review before finalization. Form 990, Part VI, Section B Line 11B Form 990 is prepared by an outside public accounting firm with the assistance of management. The return is then reviewed by management before being presented to the governing body prior to filing. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11A: Form 990 is prepared by an outside public accounting firm with the assistance of management. The return is reviewed by the Board Treasurer before being presented to the governing body prior to filing. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12A Conflict of interest applies to any interested person: any director, principal officer, or member of a committee with governing board delegated powers, who has a direct or indirect financial interest. A person has a financial interest if the person has, directly or indirectly, through business, investment, or family; A) An ownership or investment interest in any entity with which the Organization has a transaction or arrangement. B) A compensation arrangement with the Organization or with an entity or individual with which the Organization has a transaction or arrangement, or C) A potential ownership or investment interest in, or compensation arrangement with, any entity or individual with which the Organization is negotiating a transaction or arrangement. Compensation includes direct and indirect remuneration as well as gifts or favors that are not insubstantial. A financial interest is not necessarily a conflict of interest. Under Article III, Seciton 2, a person who has a financial interst may have a conflict of interest only if the appropriate governing board or committee decides that a conflict of interest exists. Part III - Program Accomplishments 1 - Each year the RVA supports and engages its local community and businesses during the holidays by hosting its annual Halloween Festival and Holiday Stroll Event.2 - Each Sunday, a farmers market is open to the community. 3 - Each year a street festival features over 300 exhibors, high end Arts and Craft Booths and live entertainment throughout the day. There is an international food court and carnival rides for the kids, and always Admission is FREE to attend.4 - During COVID-19, the RVA designed and created an outdoor experience, supporting local restaurants. The RVA helped support local businesses by providing additional support so safety protocals in LA County could be met.
