WVH&V provides activities and information statewide to parents and professionals that may include outreach events educational seminars advocacy support and parent-to-parent networking. WVH&V believes that families will make the best choices for their child if they have access to good information and support. WVH&V represents people who use a variety of languages and varying approaches to communication access and educational outcomes for their children who are deaf or hard of hearing. The outreach activities parent professional collaboration and advocacy efforts are focused on enabling deaf or hard of hearing children to reach their highest potential. West Virginia Hands & Voices Parent Support Program provided follow-up services for families of newborns who missed or failed their newborn hearing screening on behalf of the WV Department of Health and Human Resources Newborn Hearing screening Program. Our Parent Support Specialists contact these families by phone or through the mail to provide support information and follow-up on the status of their child's hearing testing providing referrals and resources as needed. 0 40000 West Virginia Hands & Voices Parent Support Program provided trainings and events to families of children who are deaf or hard of hearing. This provides families the opportunity to learn more about their child's diagnosis and resources available to them as well as receive support from both professionals and other families walking the same journey. We hosted twelve family events with approximately 320people in attendance. 0 9687 West Virginia Hands & Voices Parent Support Program provides educational opportunities for parent of deaf or hard of hearing children to learn more about their child's diagnosis and how to support them.
