Resource information on election processes and what will be on the ballot are easily accessible with printed Voters Guides at local libraries as well as on VOTE411.org and the League website online. We translate the Voters Guide into Spanish, Simple Chinese and Vietnamese to ensure new citizens may read the Voters Guide on VOTE411.org in the language they are most comfortable with. We use cutting-edge technology to reach voters across Texas. While voters still find the Voters Guide in print in libraries and community centers, it is also easily viewed by phone, tablet, or computer on LWVTexas.org and at VOTE411.org. We promote voting and elections with QR codes, text reminders, and on social media with videos and graphics. During the 2021 and 2022 Constitutional Amendment Elections and the 2022 Primary and Primary runoff Elections, our nonpartisan Voters Guide reached more than 500,000 voters across Texas providing voter education, and information on candidates and voting safely. Videos explaining the Constitutional Amendments in both English and Spanish provided accessible information for voters. Voters look to their counties to find accurate, accessible, and useful voter information on safe and secure county election websites. We expanded the criteria to include changes required by SB1, the major elections bill that went into effect for 2022 elections. In partnership with the Center for Civic Design, we created a new vote-by-mail application with instructions that are easier to use and understand. We also developed new material including videos to educate voters on how to complete the new vote by mail application and ballot carrier envelope. Pt III, Line 4a cont. Fighting for Safe & Accessible Elections for All: The League partners with legal organizations to fight government efforts to suppress the vote in Texas and we win those fights. We joined a lawsuit that limited drop-offs for mail ballots to one location per county; joined and prevailed in the Richardson v. Hughs lawsuit to allow cure for mail-in ballot signature verification; participated in a successful lawsuit to require the Department of Public Safety to offer voter registration online to those updating their drivers license online; joined in filing multiple other suits which suppress the vote of people of color, people with disabilities, students, senior citizens, or people who are economically disadvantaged. Safe Voting for Vulnerable Populations: Organized community organizations and county and state government partners to promote working at the polls to the younger, less vulnerable population; offered voter education about safer options to vote such as voting by mail, voting in person, voting during off-hours, proper hygiene, masks, and social distancing. Our training and mentoring create strong, innovative, and creative new League leaders. League volunteers come from diverse populations in metropolitan, suburban and rural areas.
