Virginia Williams Fund (the "Fund") held in trust and managed by the Boston Foundation. The Fund was established in the early 1980s for the exclusive benefit of the Ballet on the condition the Ballet continues to operate as a 501(c)(3) ballet company. The fund had a fair market value of $2,447,268.47 at June 30, 2024. Schedule D, Part V, Line 4 The Ballet's Endowment consists of over forty individual funds established to support artistic productions, scholarships to Boston Ballet School, and community programmatic activities. Schedule D, Part X, Line 2 The Ballet is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as an organization described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (the "Code") and is generally exempt from federal and state income taxes on related income. Accordingly, no provision for income taxes is made in the financial statements. The Ballet accounts for the effect of any uncertain tax positions based on a "more likely than not" threshold to the recognition of the tax positions being sustained based on the technical merits of the position under scrutiny by the applicable taxing authority. If a tax position or positions are deemed to result in uncertainties of those positions, the unrecognized tax benefit is estimated based on a "cumulative probability assessment" that aggregates the estimated tax liability for all uncertain tax positions. The Ballet has identified its tax status as a tax-exempt entity as a tax position; however, the Ballet has determined that such tax position does not result in an uncertainty requiring recognition. The Ballet is not currently under examination by any taxing jurisdiction.
