We also have them declare in writing any known conflict of interest. In annual staff meetings, we remind staff of our whistle blower and harassment policy. Staff is encouraged to have an open door policy with our chair or any member of the Personnel Committee. That is not only communicated by staff leadership, but by volunteer leadership. The President and CEO's salary is reviewed annually by the personnel committee which then makes a recommendation to the Executive Committee and Board of Directors for their approval. The Executive Director meets with the personnel committee to make recommendations on compensation for key employees and all other employees. The personnel committee goes forward with their own recommendations to the Executive Committee and Board. Our personnel committee determines the job positions, the job descriptions, and uses the United Way of America survey of like size positions to determine salary ranges. With those parameters in place, top management will make annual specific salary recommendations to the personnel committee based on employee performance relative to mid point averages of the job position.
