The staff members who serve on the board abstain from voting on matters involving the financial compensation of musicians or staff members. Board members sign an annual conflict of interest policy and report any affiliations to ensure no conflict is present. There are accounting controls and processes following best practices for nonprofit accounting. The board reviews the financials and programming quarterly and approves the budget annually. Over the past year, SI has taken additional steps to ensure a healthy separation of powers. Non-staff board members now hold the board positions of treasurer and secretary. We are also bringing on new individuals outside of SI to increase the non-staff representation of our board. Pt VI, Line 12c Sound Impact relied on self-reporting for any potential conflicts of interest through our annual conflict of interest policy, and checked in as any new opportunities presented themselves to evaluate if a conflict was present.
