The Executive Committee may act on behalf of the Board of Directors between meetings. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 3 The Foundation has contracted with a management company to perform a number of duties for the charter school. Arrow Academy, LLC is paid a fee of $815 per enrolled student to provide management services. The services include accounting duties, curriculum management, staff training, marketing, compliance reporting and other operations-related consulting. Top Officials of the Foundation were compensated through this arrangement as follows: James Christensen, CEO: $90,495 Curtis Mackey, CFO: $152,334 Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11b The organization, specifically the Accounting Manager, prepares an informational checklist for submission to a paid tax preparer. Once the tax return is prepared by the paid preparer, it is reviewed in detail by the CFO as well as the CEO, Superintendent, and all directors prior to filing with the IRS. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c The conflict of interest policy applies to Directors and Officers of LEF. A disclosure form is prepared annually and must be submitted to the Texas Education Agency. Any Officer or Director with a conflict of interest must excuse themselves from any formal board discussion regarding policies related to the conflict of interest and may not participate in a Board vote regarding any item considered a conflict of interest. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 15 The organization obtains public information related to salaries for similar positions in similar sized institutions. Because Texas law requires the open disclosure of salaries for Superintendents, this information is readily available. The Superintendent's compensation was last reviewed in August 2023 and approved by the Board of Directors. Region 06 Superintendent salary information was obtained from Texas Education Agency website, and Dr. Sanders' compensation was comparable to the salaries of other Superintendents in Region 06 with similar enrollments. The COO's compensation is determined by the Superintendent and CEO. The organization obtains public information related to salaries for similar positions in similar sized institutions to determine the COO's compensation. The CEO and CFO, who perform a substantial amount of duties for the organization, are employees of a management company that is paid management fees for the performance of these services. Therefore, the organization does not determine the compensation of these individuals.
