Beginning with a handful of dance films presented in a small gallery, this annual festival soon expanded to the 75-seat 9th Street Independent Film Center showing two nights of films. In 2013, Schoenberg joined forces with Executive Director Judy Flannery who invited the European Dance Screen to partner with SFDFF for their first U.S. dance film festival. The 2013 Festival received over 300 dance filmsubmissions and grew into a four-day festival with industry panels, workshops and discussions. Celebrating its tenth anniversary in 2019, Dance Film SF presented its annual SF DANCE Film Festival with ten days of programming, at multiple venues in San Francisco. From in-depth feature documentaries to engaging shorts programs, the Festival offers something for diehard dance fansand newcomers alike. This Festival has secured a solid place on the international scene, drawing a vibrant and diverserange of participants from all over the world. The Festival offers a rare place where independent artists can celebrate theirachievements and inspire each other as a unified community. It also serves to introduce dance to those who don't typically attendlive performances, and showcases new international talent. In 2020, streaming services were added to Dance Film SF's programs.The closing night has become a celebration of the local dance and film community to sold out audiences. 5000 Co-Laboratory: Dance Film SF also produces original dance films through its Co-Laboratory program, matching top choreographers with professional filmmakers and creating the time, space, and budgetfor them to collaborate. The intention is to bring professional artists into the atmosphere of alaboratory, one that challenges them to think collaboratively and explore possibilities for expression outside their fields, hopefully inspiring future creative relationships among local artists. The BOX BLUR program produces and presents collaborative projects created in response or in partnershipwith visual artist's works. Unique theater, music, dance, spoken word, performance art, printmaking, readings, panel discussions, films and videos screening, and off-site installationsand performances are produced or hosted by BOXBLUR. Annually, the BOXBLUR program presents films awarded in the experimental category and complimentary, live danceperformances within the non-proscenium-based setting of the Catharine Clark Gallery for the San Francisco Dance Film Festival.The Grantee provides access to records and staff for the program which may include a financial or program audit. Both parties maintain records in accordance with generally acceptedaccounting principles, shall retain records as long as required by law and shall make records available to auditors as required by law and report activities of the Sponsored Program,to the extent required by law. The Grantee shall submit full and complete quarterly reports to Sponsor on the progress of the Sponsored Program. Reports shall be due within thirty 30days of the end of each calendar quarter, for so long as the agreement remains in effect.
