Drought Relief: In 2023 Hand of Hope HOH provided drought relief to individuals in the Borana region of southern Ethiopia and northern Kenya. This region was plagued with severe drought over the past couple of years resulting in the loss of millions of cattle and thousands of people suffering from malnutrition and starvation. HOH was able to distribute food in the form of corn grain sugar and oil to more than $1,000 individuals throughout the region. HOH also distributed seeds to more than 200 farmers in southern Ethiopia who had lost their crops due to the severe drought. The distributed seeds enabled farmers to reclaim their fields and grow crops to feed and support their families and the community. 25590 400 Orphan Care: The Children's program provides financial assistance to support nearly 100 vulnerable children throughout southern Ethiopia and northern Kenya. Many of these children are orphaned due to civil war among tribes in the region or illness. The program covers food shelter clothing and educational expenses for children in the program. The program benefits 34 children in southern Ethiopia and more than 62 in northern Kenya. One of the strict requirements of this program is that all children must attend school as we firmly believe receiving an education is key to their future success. Currently there are 8 children in the program that are attending university. HOH's financial assistance ensures they can continue their studies. 18582 0 Evangelism: Hand of Hope's evangelism program involves a partnership with six churches throughout Ethiopia. Funds are provided to each church to be used exclusively for evangelism in surrounding villages. A total of 15 evangelists are funded through HOH's program. This year in addition to basic evangelism funding HOH also funded building a small church in one of the village outreach areas under Teltelle Mekane Yesus Church.
