A bronze sculpture marks the trailhead that is situated in Womens History Park. By providing activities and educational events, we strive to share stories about important women who helped shape Macon Countys history. Our largest project by far is the creation of the bronze scuplture (7 feet tall representing three figures: enslaved woman, Cherokee woman and pioneer woman) that all had a connection to the land near the river where this historic sculpture is placed. We also continue to recognize living elderly women in the area as a WHT Macon Matriarch each March to acknowledge their accomplishements during Womens History Month. womenshistorytrail.org.
