Percentage of Public SupportAFNGI's public support percentage for 2023 was 31.83%, substantially in excess of the 10% minimum and significantly greater than the prior year;it also satisfies other factors in that test as noted below. B. Attraction of Public SupportAmerican Friends of the National Gallery of Ireland, Inc. ("AFNGI") has maintained a continuous and bona fide program for the solicitation of funds from individuals, businesses, donor advised funds and charitable organizations that are interested in its programs. During the 5-year period ended December 31, 2023, AFNGI received contributions from 15 unique contributors.AFNGI and its grantees work to identify American individuals in the US, who have an interest in furthering the programs of the National Gallery of Ireland, funding fellowships, exhibitions and gallery acquisitions. AFNGI also maintains a website, www.afngi.org, where the public is invited to make donations online.C. Other Public Support Factors 1) History of Public Support: This is the Organization's 8th year of operations. Therefore, it is still developing a broad base of donors. However, over the past 5 years these efforts have been limited by the COVID pandemic.2) Sources of Support: AFNGI receives support from a representative group of individuals, businesses and charitable organizations. As noted above, during the five-year period ended December 31, 2023, AFNGI received contributions from 15 unique contributors. The following individuals are on the Board:Name & AffiliationsJay Krehbiel - is Chairman & CEO of Hindman Auctions, one of the foremost fine art auction houses. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Art Institute of Chicago, serving on its committee on European Decorative Arts, and he sits on the Board of Governors of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Mr. Krehbiel also has long held family connections in Ireland.Brian P. Kennedy - Born and educated in Dublin, he was the Assistant Director of the National Gallery of Ireland (1989-1997). He was Director of the National Gallery of Australia (Canberra) from 1997 - 2004, and, since then, has lived and worked in the United States as Director of the Hood Museum of Art, Dartmouth College, Hanover NH, the Toledo Museum of Art, Toledo, Ohio, and the Peabody Essex Museum, Salem, Massachusetts. He is now an adviser to art museums and philanthropies.Caroline Campbell - Director of the National Gallery of Ireland.4) Availability of Public Facilities or Services: AFNGI makes grants to the National Gallery of Ireland, an Art Gallery that maintains Ireland's national collection the finest Irish and European art and makes it available to the public.
