With this collaboration, free sunscreen dispensers were provided for nine area pools throughout the Greater Cincinnati Community. Using SPF 30 sunscreen is a sun-protective practice that can prevent the risk of skin cancer. Impact was estimated at 11,000 individuals supported. Melanoma Know More also supported some other education and prevention efforts with the life guards. 14600 10000 Free Monthly Skin Cancer Screening Clinics: On the second Saturday of every month from 10am - noon, a cancer screening clinic is scheduled and supported by dermatologists, nurses, and administrative staff, who volunteer their time to detect skin cancer, specifically melanoma. If one of the volunteer dermatologists notes a suspicious finding that could potentially be a melanoma, the patient is expedited within four weeks from the clinic date to a dermatologist for further evaluation and a possible biopsy. A sunscreen dispenser was added to Court Street Plaza, and some other education and prevention efforts with schools and health fairs.
